Student Showcase

Picture a traditional school building. When wandering the halls, student work is displayed on bulletin boards providing a snapshot of what students are learning. In our NEW student showcase, PacPrep students are going to have an opportunity to share some of their talents and skills with our school community. Across all of our classes students are completing projects that require critical thinking and analysis, application to real-world events, and capitalizing on their interests. This fall, they will work with their teachers to pick a project or two to “show off”. Our team will then submit all projects to a password-protected web page for our school community.

Students (and families!) will then be invited to view each other’s projects seeing how their peers are sparking positive change, leaning into artistic abilities, engaging in community service, and/or demonstrating their discoveries and academic growth.

PROjeCT IDEAS

HOW THIS WILL WORK

Projects will vary in length, complexity, and format*. Some students may prefer to share a short paragraph they wrote, while others may elect to go “all out”, building toward a particular presentation. Teachers are encouraged to follow their student’s leading, providing guidance and support along the way, and also being mindful of course goals and respective curriculum.

*Prior to taking a picture or recording a student, please coordinate with Erika so she can review family authorization records.

Think more along the lines of a piece of work a student completes throughout a unit, rather than a comprehensive and/or final project.
Ideas include:

  • Participating in reader’s theatre

  • Creating a mini movie

  • Presenting on a topic of interest

  • Writing a blog or review —or even sharing an essay

  • Demonstrating a chemical reaction
