Our Approach: Middle School Years

At Pacific Preparatory, much like everywhere, our middle schoolers are at a unique stage, caught between elementary and high school. We understand their needs and strive to strike a balance, as our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders seek to assert their leadership and expand beyond their elementary experiences. We tap into their passions, whether it’s art, Dungeons and Dragons, or a particular sport, to help them with time management and other challenges.

Our approach is collaborative, starting with key questions for middle school families: "What is or isn't working for your child?" and "What's your number one goal?" Based on their responses, we provide tailored recommendations and intentionally match students with teachers who will prioritize their needs. We also work with learning differences, mental health challenges, social and emotional needs, and interests.

We understand that intentional support is needed throughout the academic year, and we guide families through the process. Recently, a parent of a sixth grader shared during a conference, "I truly never thought they'd like school again!" Feedback like this fuels our work, as it reflects our core commitment to caring for our students. To hear from one of our middle schoolers, check out Dash's interview.

As a family of a full time student at Pacific Prep, we couldn’t be happier. First off, Erika and Molly took the time to understand our son’s strengths and weaknesses and match him up with great teachers. The teachers have done a great job connecting with our son and helping him succeed. He’s gained confidence and has benefited from the continuous feedback the 1:1 model provides. The administration (even the Founder) reaches out once you’re enrolled to make sure things are going well. Top notch organization and folks to work with.
